MEDICINE IS FUN.
Your blog is phenomenal!

Ah, thank you! :D

Hey! Love your blog :) Interesting and usefull.

Hello. Glad you like it :)

Imagine if the blood was of a gay or witch! *shutters*

Haha, oh well, that couldn’t come out good I suppose. Religious people are weird and, I’m gonna repeat myself here, close minded. And with this I’m closing this topic because I don’t want to offend anybody!

Hey! I love your blog! What are your favorite medical blogs to follow? I want to know more about this kind of stuff. Do you know of any mental illness blogs?

Hello, thank you! Well, I like dryeffectsneuropsycotic, fyeahmedicine, mediclopedia, eviscerator, articulomortis and there sure are a whole lot of excellent medical blogs out there, I just don’t know about them because I don’t have much time to go on tumblr lately. I don’t know of any mental illness blog, but if anyone has one, leave an ask with your link? :] Hope it helped!

Cultural competence is a huge thing all medical providers must practice. If the person needing a blood transfusion is under 18 or a ward of the state, regardless of their faith, they will receive a transfusion, CPS will come in and do what is best for the child. Over 18, they can do anything AMA. Or at least that's what I've been taught and has been practiced in all the medical areas I've worked in.

Oh okay, I knew that, if, for example, there was a person who is under 18, they will or will not get the transfusion depending on the parents’/tutors’ decision :/ But I’m more for what you said, because some people can just be blinded by their beliefs..

I think it's Jehovah's Witnesses that don't accept blood transfusions, but I'm pretty sure they're okay with organ transplants. for a doctor to refuse to perform a blood transfusion when it's needed though sounds extremely unethical being that it's a doctor's duty to perform the procedures necessary to keep their patients alive. if they want to be say a pediatrician then it might not be a big deal but I hope they don't intend to become ER doctors because that would be really irresponsible.

Yeah, it is them, and I agree, it’s not their life, so who are they not to treat the patients if they need blood transfusion? I hope they won’t go  into those fields of medicine as well.

most intriguing blog ever. I've stayed up an hour later than i planned to looking at your blog and forgot about sleep...

Oh, wow :D Glad you like it!

I love your blog. I wish I could re-blog your whole blog - if that was possible. ;3

I guess it’s pretty much possible, haha. Glad you enjoy it :)

Can't agree more. I haven't made up my mind yet, neurosurgery is what I love most. Oncology and nerology are also possibilities for me.

Sounds great, I like your choices. Good luck in pursuing your dream :]

You answered a question: "In what way it isn’t what most people think it is? It’s not that hard, or…?" As someone who's almost done with med school I can tell you: It's hard, sometimes theoretical to a point where you'll really hate it, it's A LOT to learn by heart, it takes over every part of your life. BUT the result is rewarding in a way that you won't experience anywhere else. Ever. And that is what makes all of this worthwhile.

Yeah, medicine is indeed rewarding and all the sacrifices are worth it; the only reason I’m not sure I want to do it anymore is because I have other passions too - literature, music, photography, travelling - I know these don’t help too much for a job, but if I’ll get into med school and I won’t have time for these, it will make me quite unhappy.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for you guys :) You’re the best for not giving up on it.

Some think its fabulous, others think its cool, and some think it's the best thing ever found on Earth. Reality is, while it really is nice, it requires some superhuman effort and patience. Only passionate people make it.

I never thought it was easy; and I agree, it takes a lot of devotion. On the other hand, I know a lot of people who weren’t necessary passionate about medicine (like those who got there just because their parents were doctors) and still made it. The only difference is that those who are passionate about it - those will be the best doctors. What are you specializing in?

do you study medicine? in which college? where you find the pictures of organs and the information that you post? excuse my terrible english

I don’t study medicine. I find the pictures on Google, Flickr, Deviant Art, different medical websites (like this or this one - there are plenty) or I reblog them. The information - it depends; sometimes from the internet, other times I use atlases. And your english is good, don’t worry about it.

Are you a med student or hoping to become a med student or anything?

I’m not a med student and my hopes for becoming one kind of faded away. For now let’s just say I’m a person who loves the human body and is a curious bastard. If I’ll ever get into medical school I’ll let you all know.

Could you post anything about Cystic fibrosis? or do you know any blogs that do ?
Anonymous

I don’t know of any blog that posted specifically something about Cystic fibrosis, but I added a list of medical blogs some posts ago.. maybe you can find something there. Yeah, I’ll post about it, just let me gather some info. I didn’t know what else to write about anyway.

narghile smoking causes the same effects of cigarretes? the lung is the same way?
Anonymous

There wasn’t too much research done on this subject, but, so far, it’s considered that nargile smoking isn’t any safer than cigars (effects including the possibility of developing lung cancer and high risk of heart disease). When you smoke hookah, you will obviously inhale a bigger quantity of smoke, but smoking hookah is more like a recreational activity, when smoking cigars (usually) happens on a daily basis.

If you ask me, I think nargile smoking is less damaging for your health. For example you can buy flavors without tobacco; but even if you will buy them with tobacco, they only contain 0,5% nicotine (at least the ones I bought), when cigarettes have 2-3% or more (to prove my point).

Just so I won’t be misunderstood, I do not advise smoking cigarettes nor nargile.
