THE RECTUS CAPITIS LATERALIS AND THE RECTUS CAPITIS ANTERIOR MUSCLES
Here you see two small muscles which form the deepest layer of the neck muscles: the rectus capitis lateralis muscle, and the rectus capitis anterior muscle. The former, a small, flat, squarish muscle, moves the head from side to side. The latter muscle allows the head to bend forward.
